What cannabis genetics means

Genetics influence cannabinoid and terpene biosynthesis, but growing conditions, harvest, storage, and processing also shape a sample. A commercial strain name is not a validated chemical specification.

Cannabis findings depend on the product, dose, route of administration, population, and outcome measured. A result about one cannabinoid or formulation should not be generalized to every cannabis product.

How strong is the evidence?

We weigh systematic reviews and well-controlled human studies above observational reports, case series, animal studies, and laboratory experiments. Each can answer useful questions, but they do not support the same degree of certainty.

Genotype, chemotype, and marketed identity should be kept separate. Consumer labels rarely provide the provenance required for strong scientific comparison.
